This is Emma Wang 王征赫. I am currently a Master of Science candidate at Cornell Tech majoring in Info Systems, with a concentration in Connective Media. (That's a confusing name, here's the simple version: Product+HCI+CS). I will be graduating in spring 2023. Before Cornell Tech, I finished my undergrad at Cornell University (Ithaca, YAY) I majored in Information Science and Sociology. I was born in China and have travelled to more than 20 countries. Now I'm based in NYC. Find me @IFC Center, flea markets, and random plant shops!
I am passionate about telling visually compelling stories through photography and videography. I specialize in capturing details of people's physical and facial vitality in a natural setting. Yet I also I wish to see the edges of people by asking them to show me their most uncomfortable stances when I do portraits. I produce videos with a focus on creativity and visual aesthetics. My works include creative journalism, mini documentaries, fashion films, dance videos. etc.
My long passion for media production has also inspired my interest in product management and innovation. I have personally experienced how technological innovations improved the process of creative production. As a content creator, I was able to edit and render photos and videos so much faster with those continuously updating editing software. I could draw storyboards and graphics of the visual effects I wish to have. As a producer, I also have to plan out every single small task to ensure that the crew will be able to work efficiently while sticking to the timeline and budget. Project management websites and apps allow me to effortlessly navigate and manage complex logistics. Instead of scheduling several rounds of phone calls and in-person meetings, the crew can now seamlessly communicate and collaborate through the shared workspace online. With all these digital innovations, media productions are no longer tedious and complicated tasks. I am motivated to work at the intersection of media and technology to break the boundaries and bring out the best quality products for creative individuals and audiences who are similarly passionate about media and entertainment.
As a self-motivated, analytical thinker and creative worker, I constantly look for places and projects where I could combine creativity with technological tools and analysis.
